ECOBANK Nigeria is teaming up with Linda Ikeji who is Africans foremost media entrepreneur and blogger to host the latest edition of her empowerment program, called ‘Self made woman conference’.
Linda Ikeji started this empowerment programme in 2013 as an advocacy project with the purpose of mentoring and providing financial support to young female entrepreneurs or aspiring ones.
The ‘Self made woman conference’ which is the name of this empowerment program is in its second edition which will hold on the 19th of June, 2021 in Lagos Nigeria.
The first edition of the conference was held in April, 2017 with over 3000 young women in attendance.
Linda has over the years, been passionate about encouraging young women to be financially independent while providing support for them to start their businesses.
Since 2015, she has given lots of her money to support female entrepreneurs with which some of them have successfully started their own small scale business and are doing quite well.
Linda said in preparation for this 2021 conference, she had to take time off, so as to plan better.
” I am very passionate about women and very inspired by successful women. I want more women to believe in themselves, fight for their dreams, be financially independent, believe that there is nothing they can’t accomplish. The conference is to mentor and inspire women with dreams and aspirations.”
She went further to say that “It seems the world is more skewed towards making a man more successful than women or Atleast that’s the narrative most of our generation were given.
So, those of us who have broken through the myth have the duty to take as many other women as possible with us. We need more women to succeed. We need more women to head conglomerates. We need more women making impact.”
She went further to appreciate the ECOBANK for coming onboard to support her.
“Having ECOBANK onboard the project is so heartwarming. It is like coming together of liked minds”. She said.
