December 21, 2020
Bus drivers today went on rampage along the busy Ada George road following alleged police brutality on one of their members.
The bus drivers with sticks and different instruments blocked the road asking passengers and drivers to turn back resulting in huge traffic along the road as pedestrians spent hours on the road waiting for vehicles to no avail
The bus drivers told our correspondent that a police officer had allegedly beaten up their colleagues following his refusal to give him one hundred naira on request.
They said the police also shattered the windshields of the bus drivers
The victim bus driver Victor Emenike said he was stopped by the police officer who allegedly insisted on collecting one hundred naira from him. His refusal according to him led to an argument before he was manhandled by the police officer
Meanwhile the police is yet to respond to the allegation as the police station at Ada George was cordoned by officers for fear of attack.
